Villamartin was founded in 1972, the course was designed by Paul Putman and it has grown steadily in reputation to become one of the most popular golf courses in Spain. 1994 saw it host the Mediterranean open, whilst many other competitions both pro-am and amateur are held at Villamartin on a regular basis.

The clubhouse is superb and sits beautifully in the well-designed green and picturesque countryside surrounding it. The Villamartin golf course is lined with woods and shrubbery made of pines, cypresses, olives and many other varieties. With undulating fairways and well-protected greens, no two holes are alike on this superb course and whilst they receive the ball well, the greens need careful reading in order to score well.

The course has a natural ravine on the back nine and some water hazards requiring no little skill to keep that score down. The par 5 14th and the par 3 17th are spectacular holes on a course that is always kept in superb condition.
